National Electrical Safety Month – May is National Electrical Safety Month! It’s the time of year that we raise awareness on how to avoid potential electrical hazards and share the relevant solutions available from JBS.
This month we are focussing on Arc Flash Protection.
JBS arc flash protection curtains & blankets are hung between a potential arc source and the worker or equipment to be protected. To prevent the force of the arc going downward (toward the floor and redirected up to the individual), the lower portion of the blanket can be formed in a J under the arc source and toward the wall so the arc will be deflected upward. The blanket’s purpose is to absorb and redirect the force.
Blankets / curtains are used as a barrier for protection from the explosive and incendiary effects of electrical arcs and flashes. These hazardous electrical discharges can be caused by faults in cables, in cable splices and joints, and at transformer terminals, or they may be generated by the operation of switch gear, circuit breakers and lightning arrestors.
Blankets include grommets, ratchet straps or a combination of both to easily keep the blanket in place. JBS provide a complete turnkey installation service from survey to installation. Fixed and portable solutions are available.
